Hazards of embedded steel inserts in Mineral Casting
This paper thoroughly discusses the notable differences in thermal conductivity between mineral castings and steel components, as well as their hazards in engineering applications. Given the disparities in thermal conductivity and thermal expansion coefficient of the two materials, uneven thermal stress distribution will occur under varying temperatures. This further leads to degraded dimensional stability, structural deformation or fracture, reduced fatigue strength and service life, and impaired overall rigidity and stability. The article systematically summarizes four major core hazards caused by the differences in heat conduction. It provides key references for mechanical design, precision manufacturing and material selection, helping engineers avoid thermal failure risks during material selection and improve the long-term operational safety and reliability of equipment.
